We left Sacto on May 20th around 1:30 and landed in Raleigh around 11:30 PM. Thank you to Jake for picking us up. It was green and warm there. And thank you to Allie who graciously gave up her bed and room so Grandma and Grandpa could sleep in it. Thursday morning Kerrie and I decorated the delicious chocolate cupcakes for Luke’s party. Here are some photos of the swim party.
Allie Kerrie and Luke enjoying the water. It really wasn’t very cold. Gramps and Grams showing off their white bodies.

Allie jumping over the waves. Notice the tongue of concentration. A beautiful family.
Sunday was Grampa’s 60th birthday! We went to Church and then had a delicious dinner with Ice Cream Pie. This is the second year in a row that we celebrated Grampa’s birthday in NC.

On Saturday, Allie and Grandma were playing the Pretty Princess game. Allie won. Saturday night we went to Star Trek movie and an Ice Cream place at the mall. We ate way too much delicious food while visiting!!

Going to Church with the little cuties. I have no idea why I am bending sideways! I’m already short enough
Monday was strawberry picking and eating day. Kerrie made us scrumptious strawberry-shortcakes for dessert that night.
Skinny minnie Kerrie Lou.
Grandpa and Luke having fun.
A group of students from BYU Idaho were visiting the sites the same time as we were. We got to talk to them.
We then drove about 35 miles to Adam-ondi-Ahman. It is a large area and very green and fertile.

We then drove to the town of Liberty to see the jail where Joseph Smith and others were imprisoned. We got a tour with two other people. This is the basement of the jailhouse. Six feet high by 14 feet wide with five men in it imprisoned for four months in the freezing cold.

We left the next morning but I looked down at my foot at the airport and saw this:
It was a Missouri tick imbedded in the top of my foot! I was about to freak out. Dave got an airport policeman/paramedic and he came into the terminal and pulled the thing out. Everyone was looking at me but I didn’t care. I wasn’t about to board the plane with a stupid tick sucking my blood. For breakfast, (three hours earlier) we had walked from the hotel to a Waffle House next door through the grass. I had sandals on and it leaped on board! So glad that thing was removed. No bulls eye rash or fevers have occurred That’s all folks. Very happy to be back home.
On Tuesday, we flew into Kansas City where Jessica and Madison picked us up for a 3 1/2 hour car ride to Springfield. Again, we ate way too much food. I was introduced to Hummus by Jessica and now I love the stuff. Dave and I picked Maddie up from school and had a lot of fun with her. We went out to eat at a Japanese restaurant where they cook the food in front of you. It was my first time. Unfortunately, we never took the camera with us. This photo is of Jessica (right) at her girlfriend's birthday party. She just had her hair cut and it looked really cute.
We left on Friday and drove to Church historical sites. Here is the Temple site at Far West, MO. It has four cornerstones laid

We had so much fun with you.
Thanks for making the trip out here. I can't believe you've never had hummus. Well...I guess I can believe it. I never had it until I moved to NC. We love it. Especially the garlic hummus with pita chips. That's wonderful that you got to visit some church sites. I bet it was a spiritual experience. I remember feeling the spirit so strong in Nauvoo and Carthage Jail. Anyway, I'm glad you're safely home and I'm glad you found the tick and got it out ASAP. Love ya and miss you already.
Cute pictures! I'm so glad you had a good time. That tick is kind of scary. Good thing you got it out quickly.
It looks like NC is a great place to visit. That's awesome that you got to do some touring of past church sites. Maybe one day we should go as a family (although I think everyone who wanted to has had a chance to go besides us?) It would still be neat to go with everyone. I'm glad you found the tick and had it removed. I think I would seriously freak out if I saw it.
